KJV: And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb.

NIV: They gave him a piece of broiled fish.

ESV: They gave him a piece of broiled fish.

CSB: So they gave him a piece of a broiled fish.

External evidence

The manuscript evidence is overwhelming that the phrase was added.

Internal evidence

Because honey was used in the ancient church as part of the celebration of Eucharist and baptism, it makes sense that the words would have been added.

UBS gives the omission of the words a B rating.
